# The Montgomery Bus Boycott
The Montgomery Bus Boycott was a protest in 1955, where black people boycotted the busses.

## How did it start:
The Montgomery Bus Boycotts were started by Rosa Parks, who was a seamstress and secretary for the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People), when she was arrested after she refused to give her seat to a white man on a bus in Montgomery City. This started the bus boycotts
## Key figures and leadership:
While the boycotts started with Rosa Parks, there were a number of other people involved as well.
1. Martin Luther King: MLK was a 26 year old minister who led the Montgomery Improvement Association.
2. Jo Ann Robinson: She was the president of the Womens Political Council (WPC), She printed 35,000 flyers to announce the boycott.
3. E.D. Nixon: A ported who bailed Rosa Parks out of jail and saw an opportunity to stop the jim crow laws.
