The Battle of Stalingrad

Stalingrad was the turning point of WWII on the Eastern Front, where the Soviet Red Army exhausted and eventually encircled the German 6th Army. The German surrender marked their first major land defeat, shifted the strategic initiative to the USSR, and ended Hitler's hopes of conquering the Soviet Union.
