## Who was involved
The Battle of Stalingrad was a conflict fought between the Axis powers, led by Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union's Red Army. On the German side, General Friedrich Paulus commanded the Sixth Army, supported by allied troops from Romania, Italy, and Hungary. The Soviet defense was led by General Vasily Chuikov, whose 62nd Army fought, while Marshal Georgy Zhukov ran a counter-offensive operation known as Operation Uranus.
